【摘要】:Thispracticeisintendedforuseinsamplingliquidhydrocarbonsincludingcrudeoils,condensates,refineryprocessintermediates,andrefinedproducts.Generallythesesamplesareexpectedtocontainmercuryfromthepartsperbillion(10-9mass)topartspermillion(10-6mass)range.Thispracticeisnotintendedforusewhensamplingaqueoussystemswheretheconcentrationsofmercuryareofteninthepartspertrillion(10-12mass)range.ThesesamplesareoftenbetteraddressedbyusingtherigorouslycleantechniquesfromtheEPAMethod1669x201C;cleanhands,dirtyhandsx201D;samplingprocedures.Thispracticeisnotintendedforuseforliquefiedsamples,forwhichspecialcontainersmayberequiredforpressurizedsamples.Thepresenceofmercuryduringcrudeoilproduction,transport,andrefiningcanbeanenvironmentalandindustrialhygieneconcern.1.1Thispracticecoversthetypesofandpreparationofcontainersfoundmostsuitableforthehandlingofhydrocarbonsamplesforthedeterminationoftotalmercury.1.2ThispracticewasdevelopedforsamplingstreamswherethemercuryspeciationispredominantlyHg(0)presentasamixtureofdissolvedHg(0)atoms,adsorbedHg(0)onparticulates(forexample,carbonaceousormineralfinesandFe2O3)andsuspendeddropletsofmetallicmercury.1.3Thepresenceofsuspendeddropletsofmetallicmercury(oftencalledx201C;colloidalx201D;mercury,sincethedropletsizecanbeverysmall)canmakeobtainingarepresentativesampleverydifficultforavarietyofreasons(forexample,non-isokineticsamplingoftheliquidcanresultinover-orunder-collectionofsuspendeddropletsandcollectionofmercurythathasaccumulatedindenselargerdropsandpoolsonthebottomofpipingandinsampletaps).Paystrictattentiontothedetailedprocedure(Section7)toensurerepresentativesamplesarecollected.1.4Whenrepresentativetestportionsarecollectedandanalyzedinaccordancewithacceptableprocedures,thetotalmercuryisrepresentativeofconcentrationsinthesample.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.6Warning8212;MercuryhasbeendesignatedbyEPAandmanystateagenciesasahazardousmaterialthatcancausecentralnervoussystem,kidney,andliverdamage.Mercury,oritsvapor,maybehazardoustohealthandcorrosivetomaterials.Cautionshouldbetakenwhenhandlingmercuryandmercury-containingproducts.SeetheapplicableproductMaterialSafetyDataSheet(MSDS)fordetailsandEPAx2019;swebsite(http://www.epa.gov/mercury/faq.htm)foradditionalinformation.Usersshouldbeawarethatsellingmercuryormercury-containingproducts,orboth,inyourstatemaybeprohibitedbystatelaw.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
